Yup, that's me over there on the left.

For over 25 years, I have been.

As the 1980's ended, I started my formal education. This culminated in 2008 with a BSc in Mathematics.

I have always enjoyed creating things, be it drawing, models or other creations. However, I hated art at school. It didn't enable me to be creative. So, I gave up studying art at the earliest point I could, aged 14. I mainly studied sciences, mathematics and IT but continued to create things in my free time.

By the time I left uni, I decided that I didn't want to be a) a teacher or b) an accountant, the main choices for maths grads. In my final year I aced an elected web design module and decided this was the path I wanted to take. Mainly because web design incorporates the creative side of things with the technical. The trouble was I was trying to enter the job market during a recession.

I started doing freelance work under pbz1912. Which I learnt after a while was a bad idea.

pbz1912 is very difficult to relay over the phone. It was at that point Shiny Metal Pixel was born.

When I first signed up on the internet my alias was Polarbearz. However, when I tried to sign up for a hotmail account, I couldn't have the name I wanted. It suggested polarbearz1912 (19/12 is my birthday). I thought that was way too long so I compressed it down to pbz1912 [pea bee zed - nineteen twelve]. I have kept the link to polarbearz by my bear logo.

I occasionally tweet as @pbz1912.
